A child carer in Namibia is facing an attempted murder charge after a nanny cam caught her violently throwing a baby into a crib.
Footage taken from inside a bedroom shows the unidentified nanny walking into the shot while carrying the child – Laila – by her shoulder and neck.
The nanny begins to tidy the bed and then, shockingly, throws Laila face first into it with a powerful thud.
Laila, who is nine months old, is heard crying as the nanny leaves the room.
Laila is fine but her mum Annemarie Theron, a marketing manager for a holiday lodge, remains chilled.
She told Netwerk24: ‘It was very emotional watching it. I refused to sleep, eat or drink for a couple of days afterward. It’s difficult to imagine how long this has been going on for.’
Ms Theron, originally from Zimbabwe, had decided to set up a hidden camera when she began to notice bruises on Laila’s neck and arms
The child carer was arrested on Friday and appeared in court on Monday to charges of child abuse, assault and attempted murder.
She was denied bail and will remain in custody until October
